integrative oriental medicine

Most folks unacquainted with Oriental Medicine think that it mostly has to do with acupuncture. While this is in part true it is far from the whole picture of the power, scope and benefits available to you through this medicine. Treatment is always oriented toward your overall health. This means that though you come in for a specific complaint or condition, the goal is to improve this condition within the context of addressing your overall health. Such a philosophy is both practical and effective.

As an example, suppose a person comes in to be treated for low back pain. Then the number one aim of treatment will indeed be to relieve the pain. However, there are many ways one could go about doing this. One could simply focus upon the pain itself (the symptom) and alleviate some or all of the discomfort with local treatments such as acupuncture, Chinese medical massage and Chinese Medical Qigong. Along with a prescription of some herbs and nutritional supplements this usually goes a long way toward helping the client feel better.

However, what about the cause of the back pain? If the symptom is fixed but the cause is not then it is quite possible, likely even, that sooner or later the same symptoms will occur again. So, with treatment only of symptoms the fix can be short-lived. A better approach, that used in this clinic, seeks to relieve the client's distress or ailment while, at the same time, treating any underlying causes that led to the symptoms in the first place.

This is a win-win approach. The client feels better just as before but now is also on the road to a more complete recovery--one in which she or he will remain well for a much longer time. The symptoms are relieved as quickly as for the first approach but now treatment continues for several more visits in order to stabilize and deepen the client's improved health. Clinical research and evidence shows this to be the most cost effective approach to therapy for the client and the economy as a whole.

Testimonials

Clients visiting the clinic within the last year

"I had excruciating pain in my arm which had bothered me for more than a year. Several visits to doctors had not helped. Within two sessions with Greg, the pain began to lessen and after a month I made a full recovery. His warm, comforting manner never failed to make me feel welcome and relaxed."

"Greg is highly skilled. I came to him with depression and back pain. After a single session my symptoms were relieved. I completely trust his immense depth of knowledge in alternative medicine. He is a true healer in every sense of the word."

"Dr. Greg is ... amazing, amazing!!! I've gone from asthma inhalers two puffs twice a day and rescue inhaler four times a week to just one puff each day. I was feeling fat, unhealthy and miserable. I now feel great, am happy and have no attacks or allergy flare-ups. I'm so at peace. He's helped me to feel safe again to share and express what I have held onto for years. The light at the end of the tunnel is shining very bright and so close."

"I suffered from RSI for over 15 years and consulted two separate surgeons, had an MRI, had physiotherapy for many sessions and the outcome remained unsatisfactory. So, I decided to seek alternative therapy. Why did I choose Dr. Curtiss? Honestly, what impressed me most were his engineering degrees. I knew that as a rational person in a concrete profession, he would not buy into and dedicate so many years to a health discipline that isn't substantiated with sound medical proof. He can actually explain how it works!

I began treatment and immediately felt a sense of relief after my first session. His ability to zone in on not only your physical issues but also related mental issues really felt like this was more of a complete healing. I continued for 6 sessions, am now pretty much cured and can truly credit Dr. Curtiss. His ability to heal not only the injury but also related physical and emotional factors is a skill that is missing in Western Medicine today."
